Profiles of performers: Helix Dance Theatre is a pre-professional dance company operating as a non-profit society in the province of British Columbia. Our company brings dancers from numerous dance studios across the island to create a pre-professional training environment. We are currently starting our fourth season.
Artistically, the company’s goal is to create work that demonstrates an elevated technical and artistic calibre, taking dance to a level above competitive-based performances. We work in an environment where the development and refinement of technical ability is the foundation for further exploration and artistic achievement. Helix dancers benefit from working and collaborating with professional artists. Our members travel from the Comox Valley, Salt Spring Island, Qualicum Beach, Parksville, & Nanaimo.
Using contemporary, modern, stylized jazz and acrobatics, with a strong emphasis on classical ballet technique, Helix creates unique and stylized choreographic works, showcasing the talents of gifted young dancers.
